  Stephanie Talbot

"Let's Make Something Awesome!"

Stephanie Talbot was raised in the small farming community of Terreton, Idaho where she became interested in art at a young age. Her favorite subjects to draw were the horses from her family's farm. She entered and won several local art contests as well as designed logos and other artwork that are displayed throughout her childhood community. She pursued her interest of art in high school, where she fell in love with painting. Her talented art teacher guided her artistic growth and was the inspiration for her to continue her studies as an art educator.

She attended BYU-Idaho where she received a double bachelor's degree in Art Education and English Education. She has shared her love for art ever since. She has instructed and organized after school art programs, public school art lessons, individual art lessons, and group classes or "art parties." After starting her business Talbot Art Studios in 2017, she also taught art for three years at Blackfoot High School.

As a stay-at-home mother of four, Stephanie currently resides in Blackfoot, Idaho where she teaches in-person & online classes, creates online content & curriculum, and is an "artist by midnight." Her paintings reflect her love for the beauty of Idaho's scenic outdoors and wildlife. As an artist and educator, her greatest passion has always been seeing her students grow in their abilities and their love for art.

At the East Idaho State Fair in 2019, Stephanie received the Superintendent Award and the Spectator's Choice Award for her life-sized painting of an American Bison. "I am so humbled that I received the Superintendent Award in such a competitive art show, even more so I am thrilled with the response from those who came to view the show. I think receiving the Specator's Choice from all these people is the best award an artist can hope for!" Her painting title is named after the Lakota Indian word for buffalo with it's accompanied translation "Tatanka- He Who Owns Us."

She received Grand Champion in 2020 at the Bingham Memorial Foot & Ankle Art Competition with a charcoal drawing of hands holding an infant's feet. "This one is special to me," she said. "This is taken from a reference of my husband holding my newborn's feet. It brings me a sense of gratitude and sacredness. I just love those tiny toes!" It is titled, "In Daddy's Hands."

In 2020, she was also awarded an honorable mention at the Bingham Arts Council Juried Show for her portrait of a wild horse with mane blowing in the wind.

"I have loved horses ever since I was a little girl riding them on our family farm. I have always felt like horses were one of God's most beautiful creatures. I wanted to capture that majesty and the free spirit of this incredible animal in a color pallette that would compliment a modern home." This piece is titled, "Maximus."

Of her artwork the Judge said, "This painting is powerful in its simple shapes palette in contrast stated exquisitely in white, blacks and grays. The breeze in the horse's main supplies movement to this sensitive bold portrait."
